Why is the NRLA supporting anti-landlord needs?

Hello, We all know that politicians of all parties have some very strange ideas and like to waste our money, but it’s unbelievable that an organisation whose members are landlords has an anti-landlord policy. Does Ben Beadle even know that most landlords are strongly against the banning of Section 21?

He should be supporting us instead of daft ideas which help lead to landlords leaving the market, evictions and a mass shortage of rented property for people. And talk of “working with the government” is nonsense – if they’re barking up the wrong tree they need to be told.

He’s simply taking the course of least resistance and agreeing with the masses who only want a solution to the crisis, which will only increase the number of homeless and the number of councils going bankrupt paying for temporary accommodation.

What about Clause 24, meaning landlords are going broke and selling up? Why isn’t he campaigning for its removal?

If taxi drivers were not allowed to claim the cost of fuel as a legitimate business expense, we’d have a riot on our hands.

Together with a growing number of ex-members, I left the NRLA long ago. They don’t support my views and they certainly aren’t having my membership fees to help their anti-landlord ideas. I’m not alone in thinking they need someone at the helm who is doing some good for us – there must be someone.

The world’s going mad and I’m glad I’m not part of the younger generation growing up with these crazy problems.

Sorry to rant on but it needs saying, if this gets published.

Thank you,

Grahame

In another thread on this site I commented that NRLA do not support Landlords and said I wld love to see NRLA members attending next AGM and giving vote of no confidence against Beadle. I had a reply from another 118 reader called Jesus Diaz. I hope he will not mind me reposting what he wrote as follows:-

“NRLA represents only 5% of the landlords and most of them do not attend their meeting as it is a £300 cost.
Now the more confusing and legislation in the rental market is excellent business for NRLA. They are not just a Landlord Association but their number of business has increased dramatically with the 70 laws, rules and regulations introduced in the last 8 years.
So NRLA owns OpenRent, A Deposit Scheme, Various expensive courses ranging from law to how to how to be compliant: Safe2Rent, Deposit, inventories, Licensing support, Mediation Services, Tenancy referencing, Full Tenancy creation, Rent Insurance, Photos and plans, Right to Rent. The last one is around £700+ annually for each studio or apartment. So NRLA interest in supporting the government in making things far more difficult and confusing for their members is excellent business while landlords will struggle to see if after all these service is there anything for their property renting or work.”

NRLA have given away without securing and managing risk for the members.
We are landlords whose route will be to exit when we sell or in one case, move in. Even these routes have subjective definition imposed. In other words, our last renting cycle now, and with licensed properties.
By not insisting there are also rogue tenants and secure a balance in the RRB, the NRLA has let us down, and dumped risk on us.
NRLA has not presented the acceptable and required criteria for tenants in the same way as landlords. NRLA has not matched these to a well performing legal process. When has the NRLA spelled out what the criteria and requirement of a well performing legal process are. When has the NRLA met the requirement imposed on landlords with the mirror requirements for tenants. Thanks NRLA for the day after RRB.
