Join Conservative Party before 1st of July and make your voice heard
If you wish to have an influence on who is elected the next leader of the Conservative Party, and hence Prime Minister, you need to join as a member of the Party before the 1st of July.![]()
Considering the attack on Landlords and the PRS by George Osborne, with cuts to mortgage interest relief and the 3% surcharge on Stamp duty for second properties, now is the time to make your voice heard!
It costs £25 to become a Conservative Party member and to join please click here.
Once the party have cut it down to two candidates for leadership the vote is given to Conservative Party members.
The Tenant Tax Campaign team believe new leadership may take a different view to the current incumbents at number 10 and 11 and could reconsider the recent tax increases for Landlords and ultimately tenants. Hopefully government may scrap or dilute the mortgage interest relief tax changes so at the very least they are not retrospective and people who have already purchased Buy to Let properties are not affected by Section 24.
Regardless of party politics you can help decide who shapes the Private Rented Sector for the next term of government, however long that may be.

That’s my understanding too Monty – and in the midst of the catstrophic scenario we now seem to find ourselves in, courtesy of the shamefully dishonest referendum campaign BOTH sides were a party to subjecting us to, I think I could very likely find myself needing every penny I have, never mind 25 quid, just to keep the wolf from the door in the not too distant future

Thanks, Monty. Vanessa Warwick has also just sent me a link to an article on the Telegraph’s site which says the same: https://t.co/Y11RgCtblz
This is yet another blow to loyal ex-Conservatives, such as myself & many other landlords, who resigned in protest at Clause 24 and the increasingly anti landlord stance the party was taking. However, I was aware that this was likely to mean being unable to influence the party from the inside. Lesson learned!

Dunno how they apply it to ex members Mandy, or indeed if it is strictly enforced. The vote has already moved from October, to early September to later September, could move again. Might be worth a punt.
D D,
Instead of paying the £25 up front, you could pay £2.09 by direct debit and cancel after 3 months should the new Conservative leadership continue with its mad anti landlord business policies.

I agree totally. I am also concerned that those who voted Remain are not thinking through the implications of the EU plans to achieve greater political union. I am sure that we did not go through two World Wars to erode our right to Govern ourselves. I am sorry for those who will struggle in their business due to coming out, but we must maintain our independence from those in Brussels who wish to run rough shod over our rights. I will vote not vote Teresa May as she was in the Remain camp. I also believe Boris is the man for this particular situation.

Boris Johnson or Michael Gove for me – not too impressed with the rest of them.
Unfortunately, there is still room for political skulduggery and betrayal of the OUT voters – hopefully not, as we need a good result and an independent UK. Any serious backtracking could lead to a significant voter decamp to UKIP at the next general election – I’m sure the Conservative government is well aware of this!
