The Housing Enforcers BBC 1

Take a look at The Housing Enforcer programme on BBC iPlayer which relates to private property lets.

It’s an eye opener and you’ll know what I mean when you see it with the landlord there to obey.

Is it any wonder this country’s nearly bankrupt!

That’s right. It WILL continue. They will not stop until they have killed the industry (sad for us, but we will survive) and then what for the country? Even if us landlords agreed to sell up cheap and let’s pretend the councils actually had the capital to buy them all, they can’t afford to maintain them and manage them all. It’ll go belly up eventually. We’ll all make the decision to leave this market place…it just remains to see when that will actually be.

I saw about 5 minutes of one episode and turned off, unable to take another stupid, one-sided, lazy piece of programming. The bit I saw was of a woman with five children moaning about the state of the house – and you saw piles of clothing and mess everywhere – and loads of mould in a room – which anyone with any sense would treat with an anti-mould cleaner. The house maybe had three bedrooms and they needed more… and that’s the landlord’s fault? They then tried a ‘tear-jerker’ with the young son saying he would love a room of his own. Well, maybe his parents could work and earn some money and provide that for him? Oh no, sorry, I forgot – other people who work and pay taxes and can’t afford to have 5 children because of the child-care costs while they’re in work, should pay for that big house for them. Ridiculous.

I have a confession, I put the link on to make it easier for people to find the programme. Jack’s original post said to find it on iPlayer, so that’s what I did and posted the link.

    Sorry Jack

Hello Mark. That’s fine and I understand that your way is far more convenient. This is a great site as it gives us all the opportunity to get on our soap box and I’ll be doing ‘just that’ again shortly with another article. Thanks again.
