Gas Safety Certificate post emergency measures?
I have had trouble getting information out of British Gas concerning Gas safety certificates under the covid-19 restrictions. Their website had nothing on it.
I have now had a reply to a tweet, and they will still be providing the service and in fact had engineers available the same day!

My understanding from Gas safe is that there is no change. Gas safety certificates are still mandatory and from experience British Gas are still doing gas safety checks.
The issue comes if a tenant does not want anyone coming into the property, in those circumstances you need to show evidence that a gas safe engineer has tried multiple times (recommended 3) to visit and you have sent a letter (preferably get a reply from tenant confirming they will not allow any visits).
That’s where it gets difficult with British Gas as they will in my experience refuse to send and engineer if they will not gain access as they are struggling with resources, this puts the landlord in a difficult position so unfortunately you have to lie and book the appointments anyway. Its best to work with the tenant in these situations.

I read on the gas safe website that it can be done 2months early keeping the original end date so a 14mth certificate. Shame its not the other way around.
