We redesigned the Property118 website to improve Navigation, searching and the general user experience and went live last Friday.
Inevitably there will be a few Gremlins to deal with and we would really appreciate you help in terms of pointing these out to us.
Please leave comments below and rest assured that we take all user feedback very seriously and will do whatever we can to continue to improve your user experience.
Thanks in advance for your help.
All the best

Hi Jon
As I said to DC a few comment above this one …
“The daily Newsletters will resume in due course. At the moment, our priority is bug-fixing on the website but we are still adding new articles so that you can still read them whenever you wish.”
We are hoping that everything will be back to normal in regards to sending daily Newsletters by next week.
We do have one ready to go today but we are reluctant to do too much promotion of the new website until we are confident that all the basic functionality is fully operational. Our concern is that we could lose some of our more fickle members if the website isn’t fully functional. Accordingly, we have taken the view that we will not promote new articles to those who rely on the Newsletters to visit the website until we are happy that a visit from them will not leave them with a bad impression or put them off coming back again altogether.
Progress is good, the fixes are done and we are now testing them before uploading them publicly đŸ™‚
Thanks for your forbearance and your feedback.

Hi Mark and all.
I am not particularly impressed with the new website, somehow I preferred the old layout. I do not like Times New Roman font in the main articles, looks a bit ‘dated’ to me. However these are personal preferences and I guess lots of people here would not agree ;o)))
Since the new change I managed to log in but – having previously received notification on all articles I commented – these notification stopped. It looks as I need to subscribe to each and every article I want to follow. Is that the case?
Many thanks.

Thank you for your feedback.
The fonts are being changed to be more readable. Others have made similar comments on that.
New rules on double opt in for commenting come into effect in five months time so we are getting ahead of the game in that regard. In future, you will automatically be signed up to receive comment notifications when you leave a comment but you will have to click on a link which is emailed to you to confirm that’s what you want. We have also made it much easier to sign up for comment notifications on a thread without having to post a comment.
I wasn’t aware of an issue with regards to historic commenting notifications having ceased. Please leave that one with me to look into.

We have now fixed and uploaded the fixes for several of the issues reported in the preceding comments but there are still a few outstanding. We’ve focused on those we believe are most important from a user perspective such as readability of text, comment links pointing directly to the relevant comment and login related issues. There are still a few aesthetic issues left on our list.

Must admit, I find the forum very difficult to browse and use generally. old school forums (by which I mean traditional php forums, as used by the vast majority of special interest groups) seem so much more flexible than this “I’ll show you ten at a time” style. Yes, it looks flash, but if you only dip in now and again, its painful to use.

Reply to the comment left by Andy Pennington at 11/08/2017 – 22:24To an extent I agree. The layout of the the main “Current Discussions” forum page will soon be changed to show live discussions in three columns, each article with pic, linked title, number of comment left, name of last person to comment and link to latest comment.
This will make it far easier to see which articles are of interest with far less scrolling but it will look far nicer than old fashioned PHP forums such as Property Tribes, LandlordZone etc.

PS have a look at the Forum page on a mobile device and the new desktop version will look a lot like that but it will be three columns wide as opposed to one

Only just discovered this site and I have to say I think it’s really well designed, easy to and simple to discover content. Don’t know what the previous site looked like but on first impressions – great job đŸ™‚
