As all landlords know, being a landlord involves a lot more than just sitting back and waiting for the rent to drop into your bank account.

In fact, if you are not careful, that rent might not be sufficient to pay all your expenses.

One expense you really won’t want is a fine or penalty charge for noncompliance with the numerous rules and regulations which apply to the Private Sector.  So, it is really important you keep up to date with changes in the law so you know what you need to do.

This is why we run regular training updates at Landlord Law.  Our next workshop is coming up in March 2024.

With a special discount offer for Property118 readers!

The Legal Update Workshop 2024

This is going to be with specialist housing barrister Justin Bates.

We are very lucky to have Justin.  Not only has he appeared in many seminal cases such as the Trecarrel case on section 21 and gas safety certificates and the Rakusen v. Jepson case on rent repayment orders, but he is due to be awarded the rank of Kings Counsel with effect from March 2024!

So, this is a wonderful opportunity to be trained by a real expert!

You can find out a bit more about Justin from an interview I did with him in October 2022.

About the training

Justin will be bringing us up to date with the law generally (with a short section on Wales), looking in particular at HMOs, Council Tax, Rent Repayment Orders and the civil penalty/banning order regime. He will also be discussing the Renters Reform Bill.

Justin is also happy (time permitting) to answer your questions.

You will come away from the workshop with a much better understanding of the rules and regulations you have to comply with and a better understanding of the housing legal system generally.

The training could also save you many thousands of pounds if it helps you avoid penalties, fines and rent repayment orders! For example, rent repayment orders can be for up to 12 months’ worth of rent, and Magistrates Courts fines are mostly unlimited now.
