The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has published its latest newsletter designed to keep landlords who let to tenants on Universal Credit informed of the most recent updates and current position of the roll out.

Click here to view the full May 2019 edition.

UC roll out:

  • April 2019, just under 2 million people were on Universal Credit; of these, 610,000 (33%) were in employment
  • February 2019 1.6 million households were on Universal Credit – 1.4 million (92%) were receiving a UC payment

Submitting a managed payment to landlord

Once a landlord has applied for an APA managed payment to landlord using form UC47, we may need to contact them for further information about their request.

Please ensure that a contactable telephone number is included on the UC47 form. If we are unable to contact the landlord on the number provided we may be unable to progress the Alternative Payment Arrangement request. More information about direct rent payments

If you have sent a secure UC47 from a non–secure email address, you will receive a message advising that we are unable to process the information on it as it does not comply with general data protection rules. Your original email will then be deleted.

Please ensure that you follow the correct process using the correct UC47 form. More information about UC and a landlord request for a managed payment or rent arrears deduction.

What a load of codswallop:

If you have sent a secure UC47 from a non–secure email address, you will receive a message advising that we are unable to process the information on it as it does not comply with general data protection rules. Your original email will then be deleted.

The wording of these & finding the forms & where to send to & then they lose & don't reply is mind-boggling.

What happened to simple email This tenant is in arrears, please pay me. Works for HB & stops homeless. When will UC wake up?

"If you have sent a secure UC47 from a non–secure email address, you will receive a message advising that we are unable to process the information on it as it does not comply with general data protection rules".

That is a load of bollocks.

Any GDPR breach has occurred by the time they get the data; their use of the data does not compound the breach and deleting it does not fix the breach.

Very good point Michael. We've already been a naughty boy sending it, that damage already done. Might as well deal with it now you have received it, otherwise we have now got to send the same data again which will be the end of the world, so avoid us sending it again.

This is what UC used to send us last year, shocking. I can't understand it, nor could head of UC complaints.

Thank you for your enquiry.

This email address is only for Landlords to use when requesting a Managed Payment of housing costs or rent arrears or both from Universal Credit.

For all other housing enquires please use the Housing email address UC.SERVICECENTREHOUSING@DWP.GSI.GOV.UK

In order to process your enquiry we require a fully completed ÏSecure or Ð Non Secure UC47 request form.

If you have sent a ÏSecure UC47 form to this email box from a Ð Non Secure email address we will not process it as it does not comply with Data Protection legislation and your email and form will be deleted. A secure email address is one that includes GSI, GCSX, GSX, CJX, CJSM, GOV.UK, GOV.SCOT or GSE. This is to minimise the risk of sensitive information being intercepted and misused. If you do not have a secure email address and have completed a ÏSecure UC47 request form then please complete the Ð Non Secure UC47 form and resend.
Alternatively you can send the completed ÏSecure UC47 form to: FREEPOST DWP UNIVERSAL CREDIT LIVE SERVICE.
Once the completed form is received a decision will be made whether or not to make a Managed Payment of housing costs, arrears deductions or both. We endeavour to action your request prior to the end of the assessment period.
