It won’t take much digging from Inland revenue to work out whether or not you already own a property. Happened to friend of mine….he owned residential but also had one refurb at any one time, claiming it as his main in order to avoid cgt. Did not take long hmrc to cotton on. I would not recommend deciet by omission.

Has anyone ever had anything to do with mobile homes as holiday lets (or even ordinary residential lets)? Seems a possibility as I’m near the both the seaside and some nice countryside. And they are exempt.

I think the problem with mobile homes is that they have a shelf life. Also you have the check the site rents still allow you to make a profit.
Something I have also been looking at, although we are nowhere near the coast so we would have to use a management company.

The site fees are absurdly high as much as 10% of the cost of the unit, limited weeks of occupancy per year suggest to ask owners within proposed development how they work it then do a spreadsheet, low initial purchase cost is attractive plus family and friends may book weeks, (you may suddenly have new “friends”) I know person who bought less than ten year old unit for 15,000 fees are £1500 p/a but agreement with extended family to occupy this should cover the running costs, premium weeks book for £400 off season £200. Units in sites with more extensive facilities can be £4,000 p/a who is your target market ? Are you a Waitrose or an Aldi ?

I have a very powerful idea which may persuade George Osbourne to change tack.

In a few years Conservative party members will have the opportunity to vote for the next conservative leader in the run up to the election. As a collective of tens of thousands of landlords we could threaten to become members and vote for his opposition. Call it bribery or blackmail or whatever you like, but this will make him listen very carefully.

Sounds like a good idea to me. So you will stand for your electorate?
I have a face that’s better suited to radio so I would not recommend putting my name in that hat.

But seriously, I don’t think this monkey gives a damn. He just wants revenue from any means he knows he can get away with politically. Even if it does destroy the country in the long term.

A landlord strike would have a powerful effect. Put a load of tenants on notice and whilst the local authorities are trying to deal with the problem throw the ball back into Gorden Osbourne’s court.
Result, new tenants on higher rents, GO with his tail between his legs.

No, you only need to join the party as a member and pay your subs fee… You can then vote for who you like to lead the conservatives. No one needs to put the face anywhere. This is democracy and it’s our right to cast a vote.

Either way this criminal needs to be punished and should not be allowed to continue in leadership.

I’m loving it! Depends who is standing against him of course – we don’t want to get rid of the Shah only to end up with the Ayatolla – but I agree it is a potentially brilliant idea, ML. And if we all agree on it, we should start publicising the idea asap so that he gets wind of it.

We all know how Jeremy Corbyn got voted in don’t we. The Green Party members joined the Labour Party and voted for him. We need to do the same as a collective and vote for say… Boris Johnson, or God forbid Teresa may. Anyone but osbourne!
