Gareth, I don’t know what else there is left to do. I have contacted my MP numerous times to no avail. I have lobbied many other MP’s and Lords again to no avail. I have submitted evidence to the treasury which wasn’t even read. The petition failed miserably. Mr Osborne has made his mind up and the only way these attacks will be overturned is when market rents become completely out of control, rent controls have failed to work, and the condition of properties have deteriorated to the likes of Victorian slums. I suspect that will take a decade or more for these idiots to work out. In the mean time I’m going to protect my position by sheltering what assets I can in my limited company, transferring my main residence into my wifes name, and contributing into a pension. They will not take everything – I’ll make sure of that!

Hi Saeef,
That’s very interesting. Where did you get that information from?

We are of almost one mind with regards to how to arrange our personal affairs. But have you tried writing to your council mayor/leader, submitting your written evidence to the house of lords committee (using the NLA link provided earlier in the thread), writing to shelter and crisis (e-mail addresses provided on the Open Letter to Campbell Robb thread).
There’s no harm in everybody trying every option they have at their disposal.

In addition to Richard Dyson’s article – which I thought was good – I like to see the psychological angle covered – and he is right about the politics of envy being behind the current scapegoating of landlords – for a change, the Mail has also reported well on it today. I can’t find it on-line yet, but James Coney – who I write to regularly but who has generally not been that supportive – has written a good article today. I think the Mail could finally be ‘getting it.’
On the front page there was a heading like ‘the annihilation of buy-to-let.’ I suggest people write to James Coney and Rosie Taylor asking that they start a campaign similar to the Telegraph one. As they have a greater readership it could be very powerful coming from them.
I’ve just sent a brief email asking them both ro do this.

Can anyone who will be affected by the hike in stamp duty, contact Rosie Taylor at the Mail asap, as she is writing an article on it today? This is the email address:

Been looking more into options, does anyone deal with overseas properties and the potential pitfalls. I know of a large development seeking funding in the Bahama’s. All looks good other than the fact that on my own I don’t have $3m usd required to get it to pre-sale stage, but it did get the brain cells ticking over wondering if there is any tax advantage now looking elsewhere.

The stamp duty is insignificant compared to clause 24 wasn’t buying any more anyway because of this theft
we need to get them on board on clause 24 with examples

I have emailed her, not sure if any more articles will help landlords, it may just provide more ammunition for the anti buy-to-let government and their dribbling followers. After all, GO looked at some who were saying what happens when landlords who can buy with cash, answer was, add more tax.
Anything GO can use to raise revenues from soft targets (Politically) he will.
