What no one in govt or even on this forum ever seems to realise or mention is that since George Osborne decreed that mortgage interest is no longer a legitimate expense but is now classed as income this 2% increase...

Hi Jason Constructive comment! I don't agree that you don't need to talk to your Reform MP. Even though Reform's manifesto is more favourable to the PRS your MP is probably not an expert on the PRS and needs to...
Who told them landlords want the resurrection of the RRB? They never asked me or any landlord I know what we wanted! There is no need for the RRB as there is all the legislation needed already in place. I...
Is there room for individual landlords to have a voice in this coalition? I am a relatively small landlord with seven properties, but which cover a wide spectrum of the sector, including normal AST's, holiday / winter lets and student...
As an afterthought HMO licences are not transferable as the holder is also assessed as to whether they are a suitable person to hold a licence so you will have to apply yourself and obtain a licence. Paul
Hi Josh I had a similar situation. I assume you have an HMO licence? You should be able to get a "Certificate of Lawfulness" due to established use as an HMO from your local council which will avoid you having...
I have to disagree with Ian regarding the most serious problem with the abolition of fixed term tenancies for students. The main problem is that student groups start looking for their next years accommodation immediately after the Christmas holidays. My...
I noticd in the article above that the BBC interviewer of Polly Neate failed to ask the question as to the reasons why landlords leaving the sector. Polly Neate probably refused to allow that question as it might jeopardise Shelters...
I concur with Christine. I too have 6 rental properties in Cornwall which include a student HMO and a holiday let, both of which are going to be severely impacted with the abolition of fixed term rental agreements. I also...
I recently had a similar situation with a strip of land adjoining my back door which we had been in posession of since the houses were built. My neighbour moved in several years later and has been living there for...
I too have had dealings with the SRA against a solicitor who was eventually struck off. Utterly useless. No help whatsoever. Help yourself. They won't. Property title stuck in limbo for two years due to solicitor's ineptitude/dishonesty.
I have to agree with the feeling of many that 14 days is not long enough and will merely provide ammunition for us to be sniped at by all and sundry. We need to suggest a reasonable set of rules...
I have to agree with most of the comments on here. I have already commented on another forum the governments inability to recognise that the UC system is broken and that most of the problems associated with it could be...
The SRA will probably refer you to the ombudsman! Both absolutely useless. If they are close go to the solicitors and make loud complaints about their failings in reception, preferably when they are busy!
I have voted Conservative all my life but I am not impressed by their current performance. However the alternative is frightening so I would have to vote for them again as a strategic vote to keep out the others.
I have to agree with Laura's sentiments exactly. I have seen too many conservative governments having to pick up the pieces after labour have virtually bankrupted the country. The ideas being floated by John McDonnell lead me to the same...
I am excited about you initiative! For too long the publicity on our ( landlords ) side has been defensive, attempting to counter smears and accusations about the PRS which are in the main totally unfounded. Yes, there are rogue...
