Hello, has anyone leased a property to a council under a five-year lease and had any problems getting it back? Is it considered a business tenancy and therefore it’s advisable to opt out of the 1954 Landlord and Tenant Act?
I am also not concerned about a mortgage and lenders not approving anything other than an AST. So please no comments on these areas.
I can imagine the sort of people the council may house in properties.
Thanks,
Stuart

Yes Nick I did get the property back, but would not do it again, I have now re-let to a private tenant who I have vetted, after 12 months no problems rent always paid on time and most importent the place is being looked after.

I have been looking at some of these ads on Facebook for long term leases (not that I am interested in doing it). On checking the accounts on compamies house (its free to do) the company has assets of less than £20K and less than £10K in the bank. Would you trust a company with that kind of balance sheet. Investor beware !
