Labour Councils Giving Up Social Housing

Councils cannot run a bath never mind a social housing portfolio.

Besides, they can make plenty of money by introducing Selective Licensing scams and by fining landlords for minor transgressions, to help them pay for unsatisfactory temporary accommodation.

They get away with housing people in very unsuitable TEMPORORY accommodation and in some cases leaving them there for years.
For example Newham council recently got the worst possible rating by the regulator of social housing.
It was found that there were thousands of repairs outstanding and worst of all fire safety works were overdue by over a year or more.

Try behaving like that if you are a private landlord?

They have raised millions from imposing fines on landlords.

Councils have established a legal intake only of a lottery system, by way less workload and effort. Their staff need to be able to use a computer and a mouse to obtain money from all sides. If that is classed work in Keir Starmer’s eyes, then he needs to re-educate himself by checking employment acts definition and other definitions available. He and councils can laugh when making licences a law and raiding the landlords but they will find in 4 to 8 years, there will be less landlord properties available for a growing nation of tenants. They may find builders to construct properties but who is going to buy them. Builders can rent out directly. However, they will not receive the build of their building costs and need staff to manage the tenants. Letting and managing properties and tenants is not work according to Keir Starmer. Landlords will sell or be selective in renting or keeping their properties empty.
Drastic changes will take place in response of non visionary government departments.
