Tenant deductions for defrosting a large freezer?
Hi everyone, as the student changeover season has now begun, can anyone advise on a reasonable charge for defrosting a large upright freezer left fully iced up by the exiting tenants?
I can list it under ‘missed cleaning’ but what’s a reasonable cost for work involved?
Thanks very much for any advice on this.

Don’t be petty, just unplug and leave the doors open overnight and it will be defrosted for cleaning the next day. Make sure you have something to catch the water and its sorted. Can’t believe this is even a question. In future buy non frost fridge/freezer – problem sorted

You cannot be serious. (Sorry, couldn’t resist – Wimbledon)
Unless you have a full inventory and made it clear in the tenancy that the property must be returned in the same condition (subject to fair W&T) a deposit scheme would reject the claim.
If this is the worst that you encountered at the end of a tenancy and rent was paid in full, where is the value in creating admin when patience and some towels will do most of the work.
The time saved would be better used to update your procedures and tenant documentation.
