Thank you for your guidance. You have a comprehensive understanding of the current issues, which you are able to explain in a straight forward manner. Keep up the good work
I started property investing 5 years ago and despite making some mistakes along the way (and learning from them) I did quite well. My activities were part-time as I have a busy main career and a Daughter who is unwell. I often lacked time (or energy) to address shortcomings which I knew were costing me hundreds of pounds a month. No doubt this meant the project didn't flourish as much as it could have done. I eventually came to the realisation that I needed to rely upon the (paid) expertise of others and that this outlay would pay for itself. Unfortunately the numerous experts I engaged to date have all proved to be disappointing after I started dealing with them and then Section 24 happened (along with 2nd home SDLT and borrowing restrictions). The pattern of disappointing experts eventually broke when I engaged Mark Alexander. It was obvious from the articles on this website that he had the right balance of the skills I needed to adopt a plan to mitigate the effects of Section 24. Through my own research (a lot of it based upon the content on this website) I thought I had come up with a good plan. Nevertheless I decided to engage Mark's consultancy service for a 2nd opinion. Having checked the numbers he confirmed that part of my strategy was sound thereby instilling me with the confidence I was looking or. The other part of my strategy whilst also sound he managed to improve upon. He also put me in touch with recommended experts whom I could approach to progress the strategy. He was amiable, professional, responsive and spoke with fervour that was infectious! The consultation cost me £400 inc VAT but in actuality I am paying £240 as of course his consultation is a tax-deductible expense. That was money well spent.
I have just completed a phone consultation with Mark. I have to say that the information and guidance given was very helpful in gaining clarity on my particular rental property arrangements. Within half an hour I had a clear picture on the financial overview and way forward in respect to selling a current property and replacing it with another, and in terms of the planned future tax changes on my portfolio.
It was a good investment in time and money and I wouldn't hesitate to contact Mark again for further guidance.
I had a private consultation with Mark which was really worth every penny spent. He is so knowledgeable and went beyond what I had paid for to liaise with my accountants to ensure we all agreed on the best possible strategy. Incredible value for money and highly recommended.
Well worth the expense, excellent advice. Thanks Mark.
Mark's consultation made me have a really good think about future strategy and what I want from the business, both now and well into the future. There is a lot of value in his knowledge, far in excess of the price of a 2 hour session.
As a result of our conversations I have set in motion a plan and hope to bounce further ideas off him in the future.
We booked a consultation to discuss the practicalities and benefits of incorporation. Mark’s input has been invaluable – we now have a plan in place and feel confident about implementing it, with a wealth of knowledge gleaned from emails and the call with Mark. The detailed report provided was a great starting point, and we really appreciated the time Mark took to answer our (numerous) questions in great detail before the consultation. I would recommend Mark’s consultancy service without hesitation to anyone in the property business (whether just starting out or a more experienced landlord).
Hi Mark, would just like to say how happy i was with your consultancy service, you explained some quite complicated strategy to me in terms i could actually understand. Having also taken the time to see Neil Barlow at your recommended accountants i can thoroughly recommend both as an excellent service. You are both friendly down to earth and easy to understand . Well done and lets hope Mr hammond sees sense and performs another U turn on section 24
For some time, I had wanted to discuss my landlord affairs with a “property tax expert”, but was wary about paying a 4-figure sum to someone who was probably not a landlord and about whom I knew very little.
In contrast, reading 118 Newsletters for 3 years had made it abundantly clear to me that Mark was something of a property tax guru who had been there, done that and practiced what he preached. Consequently, I had no concerns in pre-paying £400 by credit card for my report and consultation.
My detailed 2 page enquiry with accompanying spreadsheet sought advice on whether a small property portfolio owned jointly with my wife and siblings should be re-structured with a view to IHT, CGT and Income Tax planning.
The prompt response extended to 9 pages of personal advice interwoven with information from Mark’s excellent Tax Tutorial free downloads, with which I was already quite familiar.
After digesting the report, I emailed Mark with some questions & ideas in preparation for the subsequent consultation.
Our lengthy telephone conversation a few days later, ended with me feeling confident that I understood the options and, following a brief game of email tennis with Mark, not afraid to make informed decisions about restructuring.
Now, I no longer lie in bed awake wondering what I should do…………………I know what I should do and have started to do it!
I had the pleasure of contacting Mark and was more than happy with the consultation he provided. I was considering the best way to increase our property portfolio, and Mark's advice was invaluable, we now have a concrete plan in place and I feel confident we will be able to proceed and make the most of the portfolio, to provide us with much needed retirement funding. Good value for money, as Mark had no problem answering the questions and scenarios I put to him, which he addressed comphrensively and suggested more than one option.
