We are keen to speak with landlords who are concerned about incoming rental reforms that will ban no-fault evictions and potentially cap rent rises (depending on what is announced in the King’s Speech). We will be interviewing a landlord and a tenant about the reforms, but there will be a big focus on court delays for section 8 evictions if section 21 is abolished.

The Sunday Times would like to hear from landlords who are concerned about the abolition of section 21 evictions and stricter rental reforms expected to be announced in the King’s Speech.

The paper would specifically like to speak with a landlord who has had a bad experience evicting anti-social tenants through the court system – where delays are expected to increase if no-fault evictions are banned.

They must be happy to be named and ideally photographed in any coverage. Stories will be handled sensitively.

Any help would be greatly appreciated – thank you.

The best email for people to reach me on is [email protected] and I am looking to speak with someone today ideally.

More concerning than court delays is the statement made by Angela Rayner that Labour will instruct the Court to carry out a “hardship test” should Ground 1 if s8 be amended allowing possession for selling, landlord or landlords relative(s) moving into the property.

She stated the hardship test would be for the Court to ascertain who would be in greater hardship should the Court grant possession to the landlord.

So much for the separation of powers too !

Some landlords may turn to ‘less than legal’ routes to evict bad tenants. People can only be pushed so far.
