I am thinking of purchasing a property currently used as offices and converting them into residential. Property bought in 1998 and owner uses this as offices as he always has done.
Previous to this the current owner believes it was a shop with residential accommodation above, but VOA only goes as far back as 2010 when it was listed offices and premises and has been ever since.
The Local Council won’t tell me anything in regard to Business rates (I only want to know what the property was listed as in terms of a category before 1998).
I have got a copy of the deeds but nothing on there of any help.
How do you find out the usage of a property pre 1998?
