My daughter is just about to move into a shared house with some friends for her second year of university. The friends have already moved in & discovered some issues – a broken window in a bedroom, TV & toaster missing & “extreme” mould in the bathroom. At first they thought that the house had […]

I have a prospective tenant from Turkey on a tourist visa (up to end of November) who is applying for a residence permit and will be self employed as a translator (they say there is a program which helps Turkish citizens setting up businesses). They are looking to move in before the end of September, […]

I wondered if anyone could help. I’ve just been told that our landlord is going to have to sell our house due to personal problems. Every property I have ever lived in has always been rented from the same landlord and it is thought he thinks he can help us get a Mortgage which would […]

I have just been informed by my letting agent, who fully manages my property. That any Bush/Hedge over 5 ft is the duty of the landlord, due to health and safety issues. Could I request that any one who has knowledge of this matter could enlighten me. regards apex

I know this has been a popular subject over the last few months however, now the October deadline is looming I wonder if other landlords would share their experiences of sourcing these alarms. After reading that the government was funding local fire authorities to provide private landlords with alarms I contacted my council who sent […]

I’m looking to purchase an property from an auctioneer, but I’ve been told it is not mortgage able due to it being landlocked (no access rights). The property adjacent on the same site has the main access rights, but is also a repossession. The auctioneer could possibly issue an indemnity insurance, but I believe a […]

My partner and I moved into a property with a friend on June 1st. Over the past few months she has allowed her boyfriend to move into the property. I’m 31, based in Norwich, married, have two lovely children and have been involved in Property for 10 years. In the early days I pretty much followed the book of ‘things to do wrong’. My first property purchase was 40 miles off patch in an area I didn’t know. I thought I’d purchase £20k below […]

It doesn’t get any worse for landlords than Jeremy Corbyn. He has said that the ‘Right To Buy’ policy that lets council tenants buy their homes at a big discount should be extended to the tenants of private landlords. To quote him, ““So why not go with Right to Buy, with the same discounts as […]
