A council is encouraging landlords to participate in a final digital session concerning its selective licensing consultation.

The new scheme will cover East Marsh in Lincolnshire and the event is on Tuesday, 1 April between 5:30pm and 7:00pm.

The event is not only for landlords but also tenants, local enterprises and others who will be impacted by the scheme.

Areas have problems

The council portfolio holder for housing, Cllr Stewart Swinburn, said: “The areas where the council is considering implementing this scheme have significant problems.

“We want to tackle these issues.

“To do so, it is very important that we gather as many views as possible and that we consider these views, so I urge people to take part in this consultation so that we can get as clear a picture as possible.”

Council wants landlord opinions

The consultation period will run for 10 weeks – it ends on Monday, 7 April – and North East Lincolnshire Council is keen to gather opinions on establishing the scheme.

The council’s selective licensing scheme will see landlords having to purchase a licence before they can rent out their premises.

Throughout the consultation, various stakeholders, including residents, landlords and property managers, have attended in-person meetings and virtual forums to express their perspectives on the scheme.

Insights into the plan, covering licensing fees, conditions and geographical scope, are available on the council’s consultation portal.

The platform also offers a way to give feedback via tailored questionnaires for different groups and hosts an extensive archive of relevant documents.

The council also has pre-recorded online briefings on its website.

What's the point. I wouldn't waste my breath because the council will introduce it anyway now that the government has given them a free hand to go ahead with another landlord tax grab. The council will win every time so they must be treated as the enemy just like this socialist government who are changing the face and ideology of this once great country.
