A campaign to apply the Hillsborough Law to victims of the cladding scandal calls for justice to be served.
Claddingscandal.co.uk has launched a campaign asking people to write to their MPs, demanding that the Hillsborough Law be applied to the cladding scandal and the Grenfell community following the Grenfell Tower fire.
The Hillsborough law will force public officials to tell the truth during investigations into major disasters, meaning they must always act with honesty and integrity, or face criminal sanctions.
Claddingscandal.co.uk is urging the public to support the campaign and press for the Hillsborough Law to be fully applied.
The campaign group tells Property118: “We are writing to urge the application of the newly introduced Hillsborough Law to the ongoing cladding scandal, which continues to affect thousands of residents across the UK and has led to devastating consequences, most notably the Grenfell Tower fire.
“The Hillsborough Law enshrines a legal duty of candour for public authorities and ensures non-means-tested legal aid for bereaved families during public inquiries. These provisions are not only timely but essential for restoring trust and delivering justice to those failed by institutional negligence.
“The cladding crisis, like Hillsborough and the infected blood scandal, has exposed systemic failures, regulatory oversight gaps, and a lack of transparency from those in power. Survivors and families have been forced to fight for answers, accountability, and safe housing, often without adequate legal support.”
The campaign group says the Hillsborough Law must be actively applied to:
Cladding.co.uk also points out there is no legal aid for victims of cladding issues and says victims of the Grenfell Tower fire must not be left behind.
The campaign group said: “The Grenfell community and others impacted by unsafe cladding deserve the same protections and recognition under this law. Justice delayed is justice denied, and the Hillsborough Law offers a vital framework to prevent further suffering and institutional evasion.
“Currently, there is no Legal Aid available for victims of cladding issues.”
The group is calling on the public to support its campaign to apply this law to the cladding scandal, and to write to their local MP urging that these measures be included in new legislation.

Government failed to regulate the industry. It would only be right that the government funded the corrective actions. They could have sued the companies involved if they were also culpable.
