Funding More Billboards

The billboard that Property118 member David Heard paid for out of his own pocket, out of pure frustration, has caused quite a stir here on Property118 and also on Social Media (Facebook in particular).

Several members have suggested we start a Fundraiser to pay for more of these, which David and I think is a great idea. Property118 Limited is certainly willing to chip in £500 to get another board up, and we hope that many others will support the campaign, even if it is only by donating £10.

The printing and pasting costs circa £300 and the board rental costs circa £100 a week (dependent on the location of the board of course). Therefore, assuming two months of rental each board costs circa £500 a month. This gets cheaper the longer the rental continues, but weathering does require the board to be re-printed and re-pasted and some point, typically 6 to 12 months.

The marvelous thing about setting up a “Just Giving” page is its transparency. Everybody can see how much money has been raised and supporters will see all updates as they are added, e.g. “here’s a picture of the latest billboard in [name of street/town]. We have committed to an initial X weeks of rental plus £yyy for printing and pasting”. In other words, it is completely transparent where the money is spent.

David Heard has very kindly agreed to coordinate the project and Neil Patterson (Managing Director of Property118 Limited) will be the trustee for the funds raised. David has also agreed for us to use his billboard design, which will save money.

As this was David’s initiative, we will leave it entirely to his discretion where the billboards are placed. The one exception to that is if a person donates £500 or more, in which case they can decide on the placement of the next billboard.

The link to the Just Giving fundraising page is below and Property118 Limited has donated the first £500 to pay for the next billboard.
