From Overseas to Overwrought

From Overseas to Overwrought

I would like to know if I have a case or not. In short, I’m an overseas landlord so employ a lettings agency to manage my property. overseas

I had a new boiler fitted a few years back and had nothing but issues with it. The agents brought in workmen after workmen and I paid and paid. Finally a workman said I needed a new boiler so I called in Gas Safe to do checks and they found many components of the boiler installation were ‘at risk’.

Is the letting agent at all liable?

The flat always passed the gas safety inspections!!!

They have also messed up on rent payments to myself, deducting incorrect amounts for work which if I hadn’t have checked I would have lost money. They didn’t contact the council to tell them to send the bills to them when the previous tenants evicted which meant I got a court summons.

Many thanks

Jess

    Hi Jess,

This is probably a silly question, but is the boiler still in warranty, have you spoken to the engineer that installed it or the manufacturer to report what is wrong. If it is a well known make they may want to help you out for good PR 🙂
