Landlord since 1994.
I've previously let out 5 properties, 3 now sold. 1 tenant left, 1 empty (waiting for me to sell my main home and move-in due to divorce), 1 recently bought, derelict & empty waiting to be refurbished.
S24 has affected me most. I'm most worried about the abolition of S21. I don't intend to let out anymore and will sell my tenanted property once my last tenant leaves.
My garden is my Zen space ?

It doesn't matter how prepared you are because solicitors will always delay things by asking, sometimes stupid, questions. They do this to justify their ridicules fees. I sold a house to my daughter. I had absolutely every detail sorted up...

In the spirit of trying to be more positive. I've sold up after renting out property since 1994. I'm currently living in an ex rental, and using some of my funds to refurbish a property just for me. I've spent...

The conspiracy is that successive governments have, and are, continuing to deliberately put financial pressure on PRS lanlords (or any other business for that matter) by constanly introducing new rules to extract our hard earned money so they can confiscate...

Smarmer says he has accepted her apology and considers ‘the matter closed’. He may consider the matter closed but it's not his place to make the decision on whether to prosecute or not. Trying to use his position as PM...

1,611 homeless people died in 2024 (BBC article today), 74 of them were children, 58 of which were babies under 1. These are shocking figures, at what point do we get classed as a third world country? When will our...

I've remembered another one. A tenant complained that the shelves in the fridge weren't wide enough and kept moving. I explained that fridges are designed this way, there needs to be some leeway to get the shelves out because you...

I was called out because a tenant complained about black mould on the skirting boards, it was actually a build up of dust. I cleaned the skirting boards and left. I also got called out for a broken fridge. When...

Reply to the comment left by Godfrey Jones at 19/05/2025 - 14:32Yes, they are raking it in re licensing and fines, but they must be spending way more than they will ever receive in housing homeless families. It never made...

I believe they did the same to small private care homes years ago. They either sold up or went bust. Look at the state the care sector is in now. It's continual self destruction by our Governments, it just doesn't...

Landlords who own outright get richer because they are able to take advantage of the rent increase. But the everyday landlord with a mortgage gets poorer or goes bankrupt. As far as tenants are concerned they definitely get poorer. All...

Its all relative to location. I paid 35k for my first house, a terrace in not great condition or location. Today there's a similar house up for sale in the next street for 85k. I applaud any youngsters who would...

Why is always landlords fault that tenants are unable to afford a home of their own? We're not their parents or family? I saved for my daughter her whole life to give her a deposit to buy her first home,...

It'll be a sad loss for Nottingham when you sell, they reap what they sow. Good luck with it Mick.

I'm in my late fifties, I live on my own in a flat where 80% of the flats are tenanted. I'd live in fear if they all knew I'm a landlord because the media and government portray us as nasty...

It's the same for home owners, can't pay your mortgage and it gets repossessed. We're all in the same boat, even if you have no mortgage you still have to pay council tax, gas, electric, water, internet, tv licence, insurance,...

2,682 evictions in 2023 - 11 million renters So, less than 0.3% of renters got threatened with eviction in 2023 and 0.003% of renters got evicted. We now have some reality on numbers. I certainly see why landlords a vilified...

I can't understand why social housing providers spend so much on trying to get away with doing nothing, legal fees, inspections when nothing is fixed etc. Just send a decent plumber/roofer round and get the problems fixed. I'm pretty sure...

Isn't this to be expected? It's totally normal that the majority of people don't make the effort to find out about any kind of dispute resolution until they need it, otherwise all our heads would be filled with the whys...
