Well I've got C rated properties (already got cavity wall insulation) and if Gov't insists I fit solar panels or heat pumps to retain the C rating they can take a running jump. I'll just sell them.
"The government has announced all private rented properties will need to meet EPC C targets by 2030". They can announce whatever they like but their words are meaningless until this is passed in law. And it hasn't.
Also remember in the example given the purchaser is forking out a deposit of £75,000 plus stamp duty of £3,700 for a First Buyer (or £6,200 if not FTB). And there's legal costs of say £1,500.
I'm not interested whatsoever in housing the homeless. It's not my job and not the section of the rental market that I choose to operate in. No doubt my "choice" will soon be classed as "discrimination". And people who don't...

I’ve got 2 rental flats in large modern developments around 100 flats in each site, height between 3 and 4 floors. No way can I install solar panels or heat pumps. Currently C rated EPC, there are electric panel heaters....
Be best really for the Council to purchase these properties for themselves. Then there will be no requirement to upgrade to minimum EPC ratings like the private rental sector.
