Advice on Docusigning a tenancy agreement?
Hi there, Does anyone have any advice on the legality of a tenancy agreement being signed in advance of the tenancy starting?
I have a new tenancy scheduled to begin on Saturday but the guarantor will not be present to sign at the time as they are abroad so a Docusign will have to be set up.
Is it possible for them to sign in advance and then the tenant and myself to sign a hard copy on the day?
I am concerned about tripping up on some legal technicality.
Any advice would be much appreciated!
Thanks,
Helen

Reply to the comment left by Neil Patterson at 17/06/2025 – 10:08Hi Neil, my understanding is that when the tenancy is dated is when it comes into effect and legally binding. The landlord signs one contract document and the tenants another, landlord signs original and tenants counterpart. Then when the money is all paid and everyone is happy, the contracts are signed and then the date to execute i think.
