Help against defence put up by tenants against section 21

I bought a flat back in Aug 2014 in auction where there were already 2 tenants living in the property with separate tenancy agreement. I was advised by my agent to formulate new joint Tenancy Agreement with £1,200 rent per month. Help against defence put up by tenants against section 21

They are council tenants and I only have received only £600 since then.

I served section 21 at the end of December followed by N5B form just 2 weeks ago.

Now Tenants has put up a defence against my claim.

Not sure whether to take a solicitor with me on that day or just go my self with estate agent. Can someone shed some light on this as what are my chances to get my property back as they already owe me more than £3k.

Defence Comments by tenants: “New landlord changed the tenancy agreement. We were not advised properly by council when new landlord changed the tenancy agreement.

We don’t have any money and we are disabled people so asking for the extension of possession until Jul/Aug 2015”

Thanks for your time.
