How to find good builders?
This question may well have been asked but; how do I find builders that I want to do simple handy work jobs that do not cost and arm and a leg?
Are there any good websites? ![]()
I have tried a few builders but all of them have charged loads of money for a half baked job with me sending other builders who charge double to fix the first fault.
Thanks
Ash

Hi Ash
There are plenty of websites competing for this market, i.e. Rated People, Trust a Trader etc. However, they all charge a commission to the workmen on their site for leads and who do you think ends up paying for that at the end of the day?
I don’t think you can beat peer to peer recommendations. Talk to other landlords in your area and get them to recommend the people they use.
If you don’t know any other landlords then pop along to a local landlords association meeting, they will be delighted to meet you. Remember, all the best contacts are made at the bar, not at the front of the room sales pitch from the guest speaker.
