My tenant wants me to evict her now?
My tenant wants me to evict her as I believe she wants a council flat. Having reminded her that the council wouldn’t rehouse her if she had any rent arrears seven months of rent which she owed me quickly appeared!
Anyway she’s gutted that evictions (section 21 ) have been suspended for three months.
I served notice to quit in mid February and wondered would that still continue running or is that suspended too?
Many thanks
Helen

Hi Helen, I haven’t seen the draft legislation but I understand it will put a hold on proceedings. It may not make it unlawful to serve a s21 notice but you will not be able to evict your tenant at the end of it. Your tenant may in fact want a s21 notice to show the Council to assist her claim for a house.

and if council take months/years to rehouse her after expiry–you will be stuck with her and no rent!
