Whatever is announced in the Budget affecting landlords, for better or for worse, is unlikely to take effect at midnight on Budget day. That only really applies to increases on existing duties such as the price of beer, cigarettes and fuel. Heavier changes to legislation will form a new Finance Bill which will have to pass through Parliament and the House of Lords before finally receiving Royal Assent and become legislation. That process will take at least a few months, so whatever is announced there will still be time to act.
