RTB denied for spurious reasons?
Hi, almost a year after my sheltered building was decommissioned (by a council cabinet decision), I applied to buy my flat (Right to Buy). The council rejected saying the flat was still sheltered because the decommissioning had not been registered. When I objected, I was told that the property was still registered as ‘elderly property’ and ineligible for RTB.
I believe the council does not want to sell the property and is using bogus excuses to delay my application. I am also 100% sure I would win the case if I went to the property tribunal, but I don’t want to wait three months.
What else can I do? (PS I am 82).
Thanks,
A
