Local authority tells tenants not to leave the property?

12:03 AM, 7th July 2023, 3 years ago 182

Hello, tenants were due to vacate the property this weekend. However, the tenants have told the management agency that they have been advised by the local authority to stay put as they are a couple with a young child.

Where do I stand on this? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you,

Sheila

When you make a new claim for Universal Credit your housing costs will usually be paid as part of your Universal Credit payment. If you are receiving Housing Benefit, the Department for Work and Pensions will contact your local authority to stop your Housing Benefit payments.

I have just sold thank God lets face the rental game is over ,very soon you will not be able to regain back your property. The goverment will be worse under Labour lets face it its grim under the Torys, look at Scotish law, ther covid recovery plan 2022. After a court case ( they left befor the verdict ) i finaly got it back so i am a lucky one ,so what is the point with pending 40% now 28% CGT tax ,Sitting Tenants(make the property worth 50% less), Inherantance tax ( labour want to remove the nil rate band ) and Osborns tax on turnover not profit. My advice get out now befor the next Election. you can get a 6%+ bond FCA protected and sleep at night

If the tenant includes costs as part of their claim/ counterclaim and the judgement is awarded in their favor, then unfortunately yes.

New law from Aug 1st allows free court representation for tenants

If they loose you cannot claim costs apparently

If they win they CAN claim costs
could be 000s as there’s a que of ambulance chaser solicitors for this.

What 1000s are we talking 1000s pounds or 10k plus? If its mandatory grounds what can justify losing? If tenant stop paying rent they can just make up anything
