Letting Agent Fails: The Property Advertised with the Wrong Photos
Imagine this: you’re scrolling through rental listings, and one advert shows a gorgeous, modern two-bedroom apartment with sleek furniture, stylish décor, and a pristine kitchen. A tenant rushes to book a viewing—only to discover that the actual flat is nothing like the photos. Instead, it is dated, tired, and bears no resemblance to the dream home shown online.
This really happened. A letting agent in the UK mistakenly used photographs from a completely different property in their listing. Prospective tenants who turned up felt they had been misled, with one calling the situation “a total waste of time.” The landlord, too, was furious when they realised the marketing for their flat was inaccurate and misleading to potential renters.
The case highlights how sloppy management can damage trust, waste time, and ultimately harm both landlords and tenants. Advertising with the wrong photos is more than just a silly mistake—it can put people off renting altogether, and in some cases could even fall foul of consumer protection regulations.
As always, please remember: when commenting, share your stories but do not identify specific agents or businesses. Comments are public, and naming names risks crossing into libel territory.
