A new virtual training event for HMO landlords from Landlord Law: book your place here
Are you an HMO landlord? Or do you work with HMO landlords or manage an HMO property?
If so, you may be interested in a new (virtual) event from Landlord Law on 19 August 2020 – an ‘HMO Day’ – a training event focusing on law and practice relating to houses in multiple occupation.
The course which is delivered online, will consist of six talks from various HMO experts (including two barristers and two solicitors) followed by a Q&A session with all the speakers to allow you a chance to put your questions. Rather like ‘Question Time’ on radio 4.
The program for the day:

9.05 am – 10.00 am: Of labyrinths and legislation – what exactly are HMOs under the Housing Act 2004, and when do they require a licence? Dean Underwood, Cornerstone Barristers
10.15 am – 11.00 am: Top 10 tips for successful licence applications, Richard Tacagli, London Property Licensing
11.15 am – 12.00 pm: Fees and financial obligations: What are a local authority’s powers to charge for licence applications? Tara O’Leary, Cornerstone Barristers
12.15am – 01.00 pm: A guide to the HMO management regulations, David Smith, partner, JMW Solicitors
1.00 pm – 02.00 pm Lunch break
02.00 pm – 2.45 pm: Prosecutions, penalties and other pitfalls: Top tips for avoiding licensing and management enforcement under the 2004 Act, David Beach, Director of Enforcement, Waltham Forest London Borough Council
03.00 pm – 3.45 pm: Appeals to the First-tier Tribunal: rights, practice and procedure, Sarah Cummins, Anthony Gold solicitors

There is also detailed guidance on how to access the Event website on the day and view the live talks.
Cost and how to book:
The HMO Day is £120 (including VAT) but you can get a 10% discount (not be used with any other coupon) with the special coupon code for Property118 readers which is P118GVFW.
