ATTT National Media Article – Landlord Wanted
Axe The Tenant Tax had a request from a very supportive journalist that has been covering our campaign from the start. It comes from one of the respected National broadsheet newspapers. This is what they need…
“I wondered if you might be able to help with a big article I’m writing for April 8 on the state of the buy-to-let market, assessing the impact of all the tax and regulatory changes. I have some strong figures showing that landlords are indeed selling, and that it risks creating a further shortage of private rented homes.
Specifically I am looking for a case study of a landlord (preferably not with a huge portfolio) who has sold up in the past two years/are selling and will talk about why. It would be even better if I could also talk to their tenant, who can say how they’ve been affected and whether they have had a hard time finding/had to pay more rent on a new home. Do you think you could perhaps connect me with someone like that to speak this week? Ideally we would also want to photograph landlord or tenant (or both)”
Anyone with under 20 properties that would also have a tenant willing to have a phone call and be photographed and sharing their story would be great. It could be a tenant still living with you but knowing you are having to sell and the interview could focus on the impact it is going to have, versus one that has already moved on – EG shortage of homes to rent, higher rents, lower quality, temp accommodation, etc.
