South West Landlords Recognising the Value of Accreditation

Over the last 5 months 41 landlords have completed a vigorous accreditation scheme in Somerset, which they believe will protect good tenants and enable their local authority to effectively target ‘rogue’ landlords.
Since the first National Landlords Code of Excellence training day took place in November 2016 over 50 local landlords and letting agents have joined the scheme, with 11 more becoming accredited this month.

Belated congratulations to Paul Routledge and the rest of the South Somerset Landlords team – I only wish we could have achieved this in Croydon. This is exactly what is needed – not an arbitrary licensing scheme, but proper effective training, accreditation and recognition of “good” landlords. Training and awareness will drive up standards within the PRS, whereas simply paying over the odds for a piece of paper with “licence” written on it won’t.
