I purchased a 250-year leasehold studio apartment in a Liverpool city centre development in 2018 as an investment. The development was marketed as student accommodation with a guaranteed rental income.
Since purchase the building has been through several changes of use and management, and I have experienced significant issues, including void periods with no rental income, council tax demands, and difficulties recovering possession of the apartment.
I am now in the process of taking back control of the property and seeking specialist legal advice in connection with the purchase and subsequent management of the investment.
I am keen to make contact with other investors who purchased leasehold units in similar Liverpool student accommodation or serviced apartment investment schemes around 2017 to 2019, particularly those who have experienced similar issues with void periods, management company insolvency, service charge disputes, or council tax liability.
If this sounds familiar, I would welcome a conversation. Please respond via the forum, and I will make contact through the appropriate channels.
Thanks,
John

Hi yes I also have a leasehold student property which has been a disastrous investment. Defaulting tenants. Sky rocketing service charges. Very few of us owners receive any income at all.

Could I suggest you collect your evidence and start with AI because leasehold ownership in Liverpool is extremely challenging. While Iām not suggesting AI is altogether accurate because it works from the information you provide it raises lines of enquiry which you may be unaware

It also doesn’t help that we have a homeless hostel which opened up next door. Students have to walk past drunks lying outside
