A free seminar for private landlords will help educate them about how they can protect themselves from potential fines and property bans.
It’s being held in Leeds on Monday after the city council’s housing enforcement team began issuing enforcement actions daily.
The team’s officers are conducting vigorous inspections, and the penalties include landlords facing orders barring property use or hefty £10,000-plus fines.
The event is being organised by Landlord Licensing & Defence, a leading provider of landlord compliance and enforcement defence services.
While it is aimed at landlords in Leeds, all landlords and letting agents are welcome to attend both in-person and online.
The firm’s director, Phil Turtle says: “The event is free because we want to reach out and educate landlords about the issues they face in Leeds before they are caught lacking.
“It’s important to appreciate that landlords everywhere in the UK will also face similar issues as enforcement teams target private landlords – and leave them open to massive fines.”
He added: “Landlords will learn the information they need to protect themselves and explain what the teams are looking for.
“We will also explain how they should deal with an enforcement team and their little-known legal protections – which can be a game-changer if they are subject to enforcement procedures.”
