As a relatively competent individual I have slowly built up a small portfolio of nine properties over the last 18 years, managing them myself, including accounts and tax. I have never sought professional advice and generally have felt very strongly that I can learn most things myself. To a certain extent I still subscribe to that and will continue to do so.
