So-called ‘Conservatives’
Dr Rosalind Beck has had an article published today on conservativehome which we are pleased to see sets the record straight on some of the recent proposals for the PRS emanating from so-called ‘Conservatives.’

Dr Beck argues that these policies are ill-founded and unjust and will lead to arrears, bankruptcies, evictions and homelessness.
We hope that the many Conservative politicians for whom conservativehome is compulsive daily reading, will understand what is happening as a result of Government interference and will be persuaded to help reverse this destructive trend, promoted by groups such as Shelter and Generation Rent.
In the meantime, it is incumbent on us all to play a role and publicise how wrong these policies are. Perhaps all Property118 readers can put aside a few moments to send a link to the article to your local MP. They are more likely to pay attention to opinion from within!

Part of the problem is that the government treats private housing as a homogeneous sector, rather than recognising that there are differences between
– letting a single property to a family/couple/single person;
– letting individual rooms in a licensed HMO;
– student lets;
– letting out ones own home.
