Has anyone on Property 118 had any dealings with Quantum Law or Quantum Tax Planning Ltd, regarding their Stamp Duty land Tax Scheme from around 2009 / 2010? Quantum Law Tax Planning - SDLT Scheme from 2010

If so, have you had any correspondence fro HMRC concerning a Discovery Assessment asking for all the SDLT saved to be paid over?

I used the Quantum scheme which did include insurance in case the scheme was challenged, however that insurance was only for a set period and the HMRC assessment has come much later on and I guess we are no longer insured.

The original Quantum company seems to have disappeared but Quantum Law LLP seem to have taken some form of responsibility and are recommending that we and all the other people who are affected by having used their scheme, should join a group action in the First Tier Tribunal.

So, is there anyone else involved in this action and what do you make of it, please?

Many thanks

Max Wright

Hi Max,

We have opted not to settle and plan to fight. We were also Quantum clients. Do you have any more info on the legal challenge you mention? Is it more than an initial offer to handle correspondence for a fee?

Hi Seth

If you have previously had correspondence from Quantum, you should get a new email in the next few days. If you do not, please contact me directly.

Has anyone managed to make any headway after receiving their SDLT query from the HMRC? I hear that Quantum LLP are VERY slow when handling client matters and wondered whether anyone has had a better experience?

Has anyone else recently received a letter from HMRC stating the `SDLT is now due as a result of the Project Blue case?

If so I would be grateful to hear what anyone is proposing to do, is there still a possible way out of this mess?
