Evictions Ban extended 4 weeks and 6 month notice periods until at least 31 March 2021

I had a legal tenant with Settled Status in the country. He paid 2 months' rent then no more. Section 8 and 21 notices were served in February. Covid extended his legal stay to September. In the meantime he disappeared. He either sub let or allowed possession of the flat to 4 non legally resident in the country 'others' . In early July at 7 a.m. one morning the Police raided the flat and arrested the '4 others'. Apparently they are serving sentences having been charged with dealing in Class A drugs.
The disappeared original non -paying tenant is still THE TENANT and I cannot gain re possession without a Court judgement.... Read More

3-month eviction ban extension and their fantasy world

One of the many affected by the situation, I have suffered helplessly since late last year. My tenant stopped paying rent last December, having moved in September 2019.
So he has occupied my property on a 6 month AST which would have ended legally with due notice on 15Th April this year. Obviously he is still there living rent free and although Section 8 and 21 notices were served before the Covid Lockdown the whole thing is frozen.... Read More

An Ex Pat landlord resident in Europe for over 15 years but paying all taxes due in the UK I cannot vote. This despite usual empty promises from government ( Tories I believe), to rectify this scandalous situation. We - all those in the same situation and I suspect we are many - are now in Limbo as the pantomime in UK goes on!... Read More

Tenants moving out because of upstairs neighbours?

I agree that the ceiling/floor problem needs some attempt at solution. So pursue tracking down the landlord and his/her agents.
There is no way children can be kept from running about and making a noise. On the other hand, frequent complaints could encourage the family above to move out - as life is miserable for conscientious parents shutting kids up all the time.... Read More
