Definition of 'single household'?

Reply to the comment left by "Alan Bromley" at "22/06/2017 - 10:01":

The overall conclusion seems to be that it is unenforceable as there is no clear definition. I think that Alan has the same property management company as myself in the same location. They are trying to stop students living on the development, although a member of the residents association has quoted that students are not excluded, if this is enforced, it will be impossible to let to a couple unless they are in a relationship. How do you ask that question to potential tenants?... Read More

Mohammed hits back at landlord tax changes

Hi Dinah,
If your partner is a 40% taxpayer, consider a declaration of trust splitting the profits maybe 99% / 1% to you. Property can be owned once the person is 18.

Mohammed hits back at landlord tax changes

There have been a number of articles recently regarding moving from being a sole trader through to a partnership and then incorporating. My wife and I own 4 properties with a declaration of trust 99% to her 1% to me. I also own one property with my daughter 99% me / 1% her. We declare the income and profits on our own individual Self assesment returns. How easy is it to form (or are we already) a partnership? We do not fill in partnership tax returns. Would I need to have a partnership with my daughter or could she become a 3rd partner and would this still allow nil SDLT upon incorporation ? (My daughter has only been in "partnership / co-owner" with me for 18 months"... Read More

Evicted Tenant - Still using address for Nationalisation

Hi Ian,
When tenants leave a property I take any mail that comes and write "moved away, address unknown" and put it back in the post. This stops most junk mail and gives the problem of finding the person back to the sender.
