Research conducted by Dr Alison Wallace and Dr Julie Rugg has previously influenced Government legislation, so Property118 is always keen to help them wherever possible.

Property 118 members are now invited to contribute to a new project by completing the short survey linked below to assist the latest research to better understand the uptake of online tenant referencing by landlords in England.

The survey will take about 10 minutes to complete.

Digital tools such as online tenant referencing are intensely promoted as a valuable aid for landlords, but less is known about their usage in practice. The project Code Encounters: Algorithmic Risk Profiling in Housing, undertaken at the University of York, aims to fill this gap by exploring landlords’ views and experiences with online tenant referencing.

Your participation in this survey is entirely voluntary, and all of your responses are anonymous. None of the responses will be connected to identifying information.

The findings will be shared by Property118 and publicised among many other landlord outlets so you will know what comes of your help.

If you have any questions about this survey or difficulty in accessing the site or completing the survey, please contact Alexandra Ciocanel at [email protected].

Thank you in advance for providing this important feedback.
