Beyond The Bricks by Rob Dix
by Rob Dix
Mark Alexander has very kindly invited me to tell Property118 readers about my new book, which is very likely to be of interest to you if you’re obsessed with property investing and enjoy nosing into the details of other people’s lives!![]()

The book is called “Beyond The Bricks: The inside story of how 9 everyday investors found financial freedom through property”.
Which is a bit of a mouthful, but does a good job of describing what it actually is.
I started with the question: “How can you start with nothing but a very ordinary level of savings, and amass a portfolio that means you’ll never need to work for anyone else again?” Then I spent most of 2013 travelling around the country conducting lengthy interviews with nine people who’ve done exactly that – each in a very different way.
My interviewees include Mark, who amassed a portfolio worth millions, to Serena, whose few houses saved her family from financial ruin. Then there’s Kim, who was unstoppable prior to the credit crunch, nearly lost everything, and found an innovative way to stay afloat.
You’ll read many different ways of approaching investment – some of which you’ll be dying to replicate, and others that will sound like a total nightmare. The fun part is, everyone who’s read the book so far has resonated with completely different stories – which backs up my view that property investment is more personal than normally gets talked about.
The process of writing the book was totally fascinating – and I truly believe that the result is too. One one level they’re just easy-to-read stories about ordinary people who’ve done extraordinary things, but embedded in there are hundreds of tips and ideas you can take and apply to your own property investing.
The book comes out on 20th February, but you can pre-order it right now!
If you pre-order now you’ll get the paperback sent to your door (via Amazon) to arrive on the release date, plus a couple of bonuses thrown in:
- The digital version thrown in for free, so you can read it on your Kindle or iPad – normally sold separately for £9.99
- An invitation to an online Q&A about the book with me and a special guest – so you can ask any questions that came up when you read it. (If you can’t make the date when it’s held, you can submit your question in advance and get a recording).
Click here to read a sample chapter and pre-order.
And like with everything else I do, the book comes with my personal guarantee: if you don’t enjoy it, just tell me and I’ll give you a full refund out of my own pocket.
I’m more proud of this book than anything else I’ve done, and I can’t wait to share it with you. If you could support me by pre-ordering and spreading the word if you enjoy it, I’d really appreciate it.

I have only had the benefit of reading the first chapter of Rob’s book and I have to tell you it’s a compelling read. Given that it’s my life story though, I would say that wouldn’t I 🙂 LOL
