Thanks Mark, what nice illustration of how the leverage and inflation can work together to create wealth, especially when profits are reinvested along the way. For lay investors, property is one of the only asset classes where we have access...

This white paper is extremely helpful, many thanks Mark. I have one question that I didn't see covered in the paper: If the declaration of trust has legal and beneficial ownership with different people (not just different fraction), does this...

17th February 2025, 1 year ago

My first house (right out of Uni) was a 6-bed HMO where I lived with 5 friends. I also renovated it myself. I was a bit older than your son, but I learned an enormous amount from that first house,...

Sensible words from this MSP -- sadly in Scotland, as in the rest of the UK, politicians are implementing ideologically oriented policies they hope will gain them votes, knowing full well that these will disproportionately affect the poor. There are...

A close friend has over 100 units almost all at the lower end of the market. Since the beginning of the noise about the Reform bill he has been refurbing all properties with benefit tenants and moving out of that...

Reply to the comment left by Mick Roberts at 17/01/2025 - 13:34These kinds of reports will soon be seen around the country. Landlords at the bottom of the market, where risks of tenants non paying are higher, will either withdraw...

Good on Generation Rent for pointing out the core problem with UK housing. In the South at least, there is a supply-demand problem that will continue to drive up rents to the max of affordability unless more houses are built...

14th November 2022, 3 years ago

You'll find that in Cambridge itself landlords and agents are used to people coming in from outside the UK -- especially in the student/young professional market. These form a significant fraction of those who rent due to the two uni's...

Capital gains tax on gifted equity?
