Open Letter to The Property Ombudsman – Latest Update from TPO
Last month Mark wrote an open letter to The Property Ombudsman, which is copied below, concerning agents operating illegally. To see that letter and the reply from Christopher J Hamer of The Property Ombudsman CLICK HERE.
Action has now started to help better protect the public in the future and the reply letter confirming what is being done by TPO can be seen below:
Dear Mark
Thank you for bringing agents to our attention who do not appear to be registered for redress.
I will be contacting these agents today to remind them of their obligation under The Consumers, Estate Agents and Redress Act that it is now a requirement that if they deal in residential sales that must be registered with an approved redress scheme.
I have asked them to respond to this letter with any necessary action they may have taken, and if I do not receive a response this matter will be referred to their local trading standards office.
I would like to highlight, that once it has been passed to them for investigation it is for them to take any follow up action they think necessary.
Regards
The Property Ombudsman
