Capital gains on BTL to be taxed as income

I am having trouble reconciling where we are trading and running a business one minute ( possible business / trading for talks over cgt being treated as trading income and therefore investors paying income tax ) In another scenario ( section 24) we are not running a business and therefore cannot claim all the mortgage tax relief that other businesses and traders can !!!!!!... Judicial Review - Landlord Tax Grab

In my opinion the institutional lets are more expensive than same quality private lets and are not the choice for second and third year students. The big crisis will come in the SHORTAGE of institutional builds. If there are to be more institutional builds going to be built - where will they be built ?? On what land ?? This will still take away from first time buyers and will do nothing to help the housing crisis. Will try to get more statistics on rents. Regards. Sue... Read More

Judicial Review - Landlord Tax Grab

There are many students who would be affected If they could not have a choice of suitable accomodation - much of which is provided by the PRS - it would in turn affect students ' ability to attend UNI. Surely , neither the government , nor student unions or UNI 's want this to happen !!!! I think more publicity on this could be targeted at UNI 's / students because if many private landlords sell up , the only " choice " will be a shortage of larger institutional property. Regards. Judicial Review - Landlord Tax Grab

Have pledged and totally support this initiative. Would like to mention high quality student HMO s If forced to sell there would be a lack of supply and may deter students from choosing a certain UNI or going to UNI at all. Students do not want to purchase houses but want good , well managed and serviced accomodation.

Maybe student unions / universities / students would want to get behind this for their own futures

Happy New Year. I too have pledged and ALL landlords should give their support. I have a number of high quality student HMO s I would think that universities will be affected because students need good accomodation and there will be a lack of supply in many cities if landlords are forced to sell or raise rents in order to survive. This is apart from all the maintenance contractors ,local shops , clubs and other groups also set up to provide student services I will share this initiative and encourage all landlord associations to pledge and support.
