Last months rent damp and dubious oil bill?

My parents have a 4 bed detached property and only use about 2000 litres a year and thats on a really cold year. This does sound very very excessive oil usage......

Oil tanks is my job and if a householder contacted us saying they had used this amount of oil in 12 months we would expect to see either an oil leak or fuel being stolen.

I would threaten to report him to trading standards as he is selling fuel to you illegally and ripping you off!... Read More

Oil has never been as cheap as it is at the moment. What size of oil tank have you got? Most domestic boilers run off Kerosene and last time we ordered it was 35p per litre, had been 55p per litre at times last year. You are either using a hell of a lot of oil or he is stiffing you on the oil. How does he know how much you are using, does he have a flowmeter on your oil line? Sounds like hes ripping you off big style to me.... Read More

New rental property with oil boiler

Good morning. The running costs of LPG are so much more expensive than Oil, especially now heating oil prices are the lowest they have been in a long long time. Last year data showed that the average cost to heat a 3 bedroomed house in GB with oil was just £1149 compared to mains gas at £1124 and that LPG was 67% more expensive at £1924 pa. Oil prices have come down further since this data was complied making oil even cheaper. You would also have the exact same problem of telling how much was in the tank and who pays for it. You can fit flowmeters onto the oil lines so the tennant can be billed based on their usage but it would be then down to the landlords to ensure the tank is kept topped up. We can supply flowmeters and also contents gauges which work via the internet so its easy to monitor tank contents. http://www.jseed.co.uk... Read More
