Broken toilets cost Landlords

Our experience with this kind of insurance has been very disappointing. Regarding toilet not working, if you have a second toilet in the house then it is obviously not covered. Also, we had been told if you can pour a bucket of water to flush it then it will not be covered either. On another occasion we were quite surprised when someone threw a brick through a big window in the lounge late at night, they would not send a tradesman to board it up - we were told if things are covered by our normal landlord insurance policy, then we had to contact our main insurer during normal working hours instead. We ended up making lots of calls late at night to find someone to board up the window ourselves. We have decided it would be better to have good local tradesmen instead. Do read the small prints carefully if you want to take out such covers. We found when we called them we were put on hold for 30-60 minutes before you could speak to them. Then all they were trying to do was to fob us off. Total waste of money for us as the 3 or 4 years we took out the cover, not once we qualified for their help.... Read More
