Local council is offering to lease my flats?

My stepdaughter signed up for one of these contracts with the council but vowed never to di again. The cost of damage to her flat exceeded the 5 weeks deposit amount and the council would not cough up anymore even though her contract stated it would return her property in the same condition. Jenrick overhauls tenancy agreement to help end pet bans

I wholeheartedly agree that pets make people's lives better and help people with mental illness especially but for gods sake, if you want to encourage a better deal for tenants, then introduce a separate pet deposit to protect the landlord for the increased risk of damage. Legislation lumped on landlords is only encouraging them to resist additional risk.
How do you determine a 'well behaved' animal anyway when you dont meet the animal or spend time with it. You can only go on what the prospective tenant tells you.... Read More
