The Landlords Union "Press Liaison" Questions HMO Minimum Room Size Impact Assessment

After spending hours researching, I conclude that no one has a clue what an HMO actually is because the almost understandable HM Gov site appears to be undermined by threats from the local council who seem to think that they can charge anything they want for anything that has a door.
So it’s just another Rip off tax created by councils that already charge full council tax on empty properties. Charges for absolutely nothing by menaces would be illegal if it wasn’t the council.
What bothers me though, have the Government
considered the implications of throwing tenants onto the street because their bedroom could be a tad too small.
And have they made provision for the Police to stop rejected tenants sleeping in shop door ways that could also be too small.... Read More

Mandatory HMO licensing to be extended

Regarding the stupidity of bedroom sizes, without doubt potentially forcing landlords to evict thousands of tenants, it is essential that Councils measure shop doorways and label them suitable or not for habitation, and if so for one or two people. Don’t forget their dogs that Corbyn thinks have more rights than landlords.

I am appalled at this Governments ignorance. In every situation, all I see is ‘free fall stupidity’.
Landlords are now treated as an enemy but some of these changes adversely affect the darling tenants as well.
To rule on the minimum size of a bedroom is ridiculous and will turn tenants out on the street, the very thing the Government wants to stop.
If this was made illegal in private homes millions would be prosecuted.
Why is a tenant always considered so much more important than a private house holder.
